The people got what they wanted Thursday afternoon on Stadium Court and got a whole lot better than they probably expected at night.

And because of it, they likely will get a gem at 12:30 p.m. Saturday: a woman with the last name Williams in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open - and an opponent who should give her a good fight.

Credit three-time Sony Ericsson champion Venus Williams for the first part of that equation, her 6-3, 6-4 semifinal victory over Marion Bartoli ensuring that at least one of the famous Williams sisters will be in a Sony Ericsson final for the ninth time since 1998.
