O'Brien, Conan (crop) is an American television host and comedian.

Conan Christopher O'Brien is an American television host and comedian. He served as host of Late Night with Conan O'Brien from 1993 to 2009, followed by the short-lived The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien from 2009 to 2010.

Prior to his hosting career, O'Brien was a writer for Saturday Night Live and the animated series The Simpsons. He is sometimes referred to as "Coco", a nickname that debuted on The Tonight Show and quickly caught on among his fans.

On April 12, 2010 it was announced that O'Brien will host a new late-night talk show on cable TV network TBS, beginning as early as November 2010.

O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, the son of Thomas O'Brien, a physician, epidemiologist and professor of medicine at Harvard. and Ruth O'Brien (née Reardon), an attorney and partner at the Boston firm of Ropes & Gray,[10]. He is the third of six children. O'Brien's family was Irish Catholic and descended from pre-Civil War era immigrants.

King began as a local Florida journalist and radio interviewer in the 1950s and '60s. He became prominent as an all-night national radio broadcaster starting in 1978, and then began hosting the nightly interview TV program Larry King Live on CNN, which started in 1985.

King was born in Brooklyn, New York City, to Edward Zeiger, a restaurant owner and defense plant worker, and his wife Jennie Gitlitz, a garment worker. His parents were Jews who had emigrated from Belarus (Minsk and Pinsk). King grew up in a religious and observant home.

King's father died at 44 of heart disease, and his mother had to go on welfare to support her two sons. His father's death greatly affected King, and he lost interest in school. After graduating from high school, he worked to help support his mother. From an early age, however, he had wanted to go into radio.
